Green Knights

Green Knight Spotlight: Melissa Jones
Making a building or facility environmentally friendly isn’t easy. It takes a substantial amount of extra work in addition to the regular responsibilities that building managers and engineers already have. Also, it can be difficult for employees to know exactly what words like “sustainability” and “green” practically mean for their projects and what their priorities should be in forming their environmental goals.
Leading the charge to aid CB Richard Ellis (CBRE) managers who feel overwhelmed by environmental requirements and regulations are the Green Knights, a group of volunteers who dedicate time to assist facilities in their efforts to go green and to meet CBRE Sustainability standards. Through familiarity with CBRE’s ever-increasing library of resources and by accessing a nationwide network of property – level experiences, the Green Knights put those with valuable green experience in touch with others seeking help and advice regarding multiple environmental issues, such as LEED certification, energy efficiency, or universal waste recycling.
